NSW Monthly Wrap Up - August 24

Welcome to the August 2024 wrap-up from your NSW ACS branch, highlighting the key activities and events that brought our community together and showcasing our shared achievements and memorable moments.

ACS hosts senior Federal Opposition figures

On the 30th of July, ACS hosted the Hon Paul Fletcher and Hon Angus Taylor at the Sydney Innovation Hub. The attendees were presented with an economic update from the Shadow Treasurer. Mr Taylor outlined the federal opposition agenda on economic policy, especially around ways to decrease inflation.

ACS CEO Josh Griggs spoke of the importance of Tech to the Australian economy and how it can improve lives through innovation and investment. Josh also spoke about how ACS can assist both government and opposition in formulating policy that will drive local jobs and keep our talent in Australia through fairer taxation that encourages growth.

ACS continues to work with all sides of politics to benefit our society through innovation and looks forward to continuing to host many policy events across our branch network in the lead up to the next federal election.

NSW Branch dives into Tokenisation possibilities

On the 8th of August, the NSW branch hosted ‘The Future is Tokenisation’ branch forum event which attracted a large audience of professionals from diverse industries.

Participants were curious and eager to learn about the tokenisation of real world assets through a panel session featuring Lisa Wade of Digital X, Darren Younger from Bricklet, and Jaime Lumsden, Partner at Hamiliton Locke. The evening provided the audience with a robust discussion on tokenisation which continued well after the presentation.

The ACS New South Wales BEC would like to thank all the attendees for their support and enthusiastic participation on the night.

ACS hosts shadow NSW Minister

ACS hosted James Griffin MP - Shadow Minister for Energy, Climate Change and Environment, Shadow Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government, in the Sydney Hub for a policy roundtable for an in-depth discussion on energy, environment and digital government in NSW.

ACS has had a long association with the NSW State Government on Digital Government reform, we are very pleased to be continuing this relationship with the new Shadow Minister. The discussion was varied and included many topics including the legacy of the reforms to Service NSW and how tech can assist environmental policy.

ACS CEO Josh Griggs was represented by our Corporate Affairs team, in particular, our Director Troy Steer who hosted the discussion which was well represented by industry leaders across Tech, insurance, environment and law.

ACS looks forward to continuing to host these events and thanks James again for his time and in-depth knowledge of digital.
