ACS Downs and South West Chapter Update by Chapter Chair Rajib Rana

23 June 2021

  • The newly formed Downs and South West Chapter represent a vibrant community of ICT professional members in Toowoomba and surrounding areas. Hear about what the Chapter have planned for the rest of 2021, including an active face-to-face event calendar of professional development events for emerging professionals through to ICT leaders.

Thank you, everyone, for attending the first event of the reinvigorated ACS Queensland Downs and South West Chapter on the 20th of May. This event saw an incredible panel line up with Fiona Gaske, David Inderias, Josua Pienaar, Wayne Marchant, Shane Hinchliffe, John Henderson, Dr Christine Stephenson, Ryan Cooling, and Bruce McConnel, emceed by ACS Qld Chair Beau Tydd, sharing their digital transformation journeys across agtech, education, banking and finance, transport and logistics and much more. It was a great success, with close to 100 local ICT professionals attending and rated 9.5 out of 10.

Our vision is to provide continual support to the local ICT professionals (industry and university) and ICT students by offering Knowledge, directions, and strategies going forward through seminars, workshops, focus groups or any other format suitable for the cohort. We aim to focus on issues and topics relevant to the region and aim to bring on nationally and internationally renowned ICT professionals and academics to deliver the events so you can learn from the best.

Currently, the Chapter is packed with very passionate and dedicated members who share the same vision of pioneering digital transformation in the Downs and South West region. I, Rajib Rana, am the Chapter Chair. Michael Lane is the Vice-Chair. Our valuable Committee Members are

Rouz Fard, Wayne Marchant, Michele Berkhout, Anup Shrestha, and Scott Sorley.

We plan to have at least three more events this year, one in July, one in September, and the last one in November. Rest assured, we will put forward our best efforts to make these events useful for you and please keep your eyes on the ACS Qld eNews for further program launch updates.

We need more and more members to help us achieve our vision. If you want to know about how to involve, please contact the wonderful ACS QLD management team Holly Bretherton and Alannah Grech
