Network Officer

About the role

CITEC Integration and Enabling Technologies leads the design, procurement and management of key ICT assets and services including data centres, networks, compute and storage infrastructure and essential ancillary services for the Queensland Government including whole-of-Government cyber security, cloud connectivity and internet access and peering.

Connectivity Services provides operational support, project delivery, design and consultancy services for CITEC and its customer’s communications networks and associated services, this also includes service design and management for whole of government services.  We offer our services 24/7 and at various client sites; use automated tools and roster staff for on-call to support our after-hours commitments.

The Network Officer – NOC team performs the functions of network fault finding, network changes, planning, and documentation for CITEC ICT and its customers.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

·         Provide first level operational support in networks and associated services such a

      • Perform initial incident investigation
      • Undertake problem analysis of service outages.
      • Inbound and outbound communications with clients via a variety of methods
      • Maintain and support equipment within wide and local area network infrastructure.
      • Under appropriate supervision, carry out requests for network changes and if required escalate tasks to senior connectivity staff or other CITEC teams.
      • Action client requests for bandwidth upgrades and coordinate carrier, on-site and CITEC Connectivity Operations technical resources, including scheduling for the bandwidth upgrade activity.
      • Provide network services outage reports and notifications.
      • Adhere to IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) standards, procedures, and documentation requirements.

·         Perform on call duties, out-of-hours work to meet the commitments of CITEC’s business.

·         Work at a client site as required.

 

Senior Network Officer

As a Senior Network Officer you will specialise in the resolution of network problems, including third party vendor and carrier management, perform moves, adds and changes for existing services and mentor members of the Network Operations Centre.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

·         Provide network system administration services and activities in an enterprise environment to external and internal customers to agreed client service levels, including incident analysis, problem identification and resolution.

·         Assist with the implementation of projects and programs of work undertaken by the Connectivity team.

·         Support the team environment by pro-actively sharing knowledge with team members through informal interchange, workshops, documentation, as well as mentoring and coaching.

·         Perform on-call duties as part of a roster and carry out planned out-of-hours work.

·         Participate in research projects to assess and determine the applicability of new and emerging technologies and interfaces to CITEC services, including evaluating and minimising the business risk(s) involved and help define mitigation strategies.

·         Undertake escalation procedures within CITEC and external service providers.

·         Perform on call duties, out-of-hours work to meet the commitments of CITEC’s business.

·         Work at a client site as required.

About the role

Connectivity Services provides operational support, project delivery, design and consultancy services for CITEC and its customer’s communications networks and associated services, this also includes service design and management for whole of government services. Some of your responsibilities will include:

·         Provide technical advice to CITEC’s business community and clients in areas where services are technically complex.

·         Lead and participate in the functions of job planning, network design, F5, ASM/APM, documentation, and implementation for client communication network services.

·         Provide technical and operational input for technical solutions for new and existing networks.

·         Perform incident analysis, problem resolution management and change management for operational network communications environments.

·         Support the team environment by pro-actively sharing knowledge with team members through informal interchange, workshops, and documentation.

·         Project manage, participate, and coordinate technical projects in relation to communications network infrastructure design, evaluation, implementation, installation, and upgrades.

·         Participate in research projects to assess and determine the applicability of new and emerging technologies and interfaces to CITEC services, including evaluating and minimising the business risk(s) involved.

·         Perform on call duties, out-of-hours work and undertake intra- and inter-state travel if required to meet the commitments of CITEC’s business.
