With a significant shortfall in skilled cyber professionals, TAFE Queensland's Cyber Security Traineeship is an excellent way to strengthen the Sunshine State's Tech Sector.

Offered on the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, the new two-year traineeship provides a pathway for students looking to enter the cyber security industry.

To help scale up Queensland businesses' digital security quickly, 60 fully funded Cyber Security Traineeship places are available.

Funded by the Queensland Government under the User Choice Program, employer incentives and student subsidies, the places allow eligible students to undertake the traineeship at a low cost to employers. The User Choice Program allows trainees and employers to study accredited training with TAFE Queensland, like cyber security, to meet their business needs and learn to protect computer systems and networks from attacks.

During the traineeship, eligible trainees will spend one day per week studying the Certificate IV in Cyber Security (22603VIC) at the Coomera, Mooloolaba or Southbank campus under the guidance of industry-experienced teachers.

This course will teach them various technical skills, including implementing network security, testing organisational systems for vulnerabilities, detecting breaches and responding.

Utilising TAFE Queensland's industry-standard facilities and equipment, trainees will also practice the essential skills to support the strategies to mitigate cyber security threats in various contexts.

The remaining four days of the week will be spent with their employer, where they will continue learning other valuable skills as they train with their work-based supervisor.

Virtual delivery may be available for those trainees who cannot attend a physical campus, with potential block training required.

The work-integrated traineeship couldn't come at a better time for Queensland's Tech Sector, as it allows businesses to employ new specialists and provide on-the-job training while undertaking the funded qualification.

It's also a way for employers to attract employees beginning their careers or help those wishing to upskill to meet their business's current and future needs.

The traineeship will bolster Australia's cyber security industry and prepare graduates to join the digital security frontline and combat cyber-criminal threats.

TAFE Queensland is focused on supporting local businesses and communities by developing a pipeline of graduates with job-ready skills.

We partner with industry and government to ensure our training meets current and future employment demands.

Our Cyber Security training combines the latest educational content, technology, and delivery methods to ensure our graduates have the technical skills to protect organisations against malicious cyber-attacks.

With AustCyber estimates that approximately 7,000 more Australian cyber security professionals will be needed by 2024 alone, now is the right time to enquire.
