ACS launches MACS Uplift project to enhance membership benefits

The Australian Computer Society (ACS) is excited to announce the launch of the MACS Uplift project, a new initiative designed to elevate the membership benefits for its professional partner members. This groundbreaking project presents a unique opportunity for eligible Associate Members (AACM) to seamlessly upgrade to full MACS (Member of ACS) status, at no additional cost and with minimal effort.

Overview of the MACS Uplift project

The MACS Uplift project is a strategic effort by ACS to enhance its membership offerings and provide greater value to its professional community. This initiative aims to support eligible Associate Members in advancing to MACS membership, thereby unlocking a host of new benefits and opportunities. By participating in this upgrade, members can gain full ACS member status, enhancing their professional standing and influence within the tech sector.

Greater Influence and Leadership Opportunities

One of the key advantages of the MACS membership is the increased ability to influence the direction of the ICT industry in New South Wales and across Australia. As a MACS member, individuals have the opportunity to stand for nomination to ACS boards and committees. This involvement allows members to share their expertise and contribute to decision-making processes that impact the future of the technology sector.

Special Recognition Without Certification Requirements

ACS values the professional experience and contributions of its members, and as part of the MACS Uplift project, the organization has removed the requirement for certifications that were previously necessary for MACS status. This change recognizes members’ dedication to professional development and industry contributions without imposing additional costs. Members who upgrade to MACS will also have the privilege of using the MACS postnominals, signifying their enhanced status within the ACS community.

Flexible Upgrade Criteria

To ensure the upgrade process is as smooth as possible, ACS has introduced flexible criteria for the MACS Uplift project. Members who have celebrated ten years of ACS membership will be automatically upgraded to MACS status if they do not already hold it. For those with less than ten years of membership, specific combinations of qualifications and experience are considered to meet the requirements for the MACS upgrade.

A Commitment to Professional Growth

The MACS Uplift project underscores ACS’s commitment to recognizing and supporting the professional growth of its members. By facilitating an upgrade to full membership, ACS aims to enhance the professional journey of its members and empower them to make a significant impact in their field.
