ACS West Australian Migration Information Forum
Our recent forum on 11 September featured a panel of experts from ACS leadership, government, migration agencies, and recruitment, providing invaluable insights into the process of securing employment as a migrant in Australia.
Attendees gained practical strategies for navigating the process to become a permanent residency and securing employment. Inspiring success stories highlighted the mutual benefits for both employers and migrants. Some of the keys strategies covered were:
- Take initiative: Don't wait for opportunities to come to you. Write your own invitation and actively showcase your value.
- Pay attention to detail: Research and tailor your application and CV to stand out.
- Build out projects: Create your own roles through projects and networking to grow your brand.
- Be persistent and proactive: Maintain a positive mindset and actively seek opportunities despite uncertainty.

West Australian EPC - What an Amazing Experience at Curtin's HIVE Facility Tour
The ACS West Australian Emerging Professional Committee (EPC) hosted a captivating event on Thursday 19 September at Curtin University's HIVE (Hub for Immersive Visualisation and eResearch) that saw attendees immersed in a world of advanced visualisation, exploring breathtaking 3D simulations and cutting-edge data visualisation tools. The HIVE offered a glimpse into the future of research and innovation, leaving everyone inspired and amazed. The innovative wrap-around 3D Cylinder projection system elevated the presentations to a truly immersive level. It was a remarkable demonstration of the power of technology and innovation in creating unforgettable experiences.
Attendees were captivated by a world of cutting-edge technology, exploring simulations and powerful data visualization tools.
Proudly supported by the National Institute of Technology the HIVE event showcased the future of research and technology, leaving attendees inspired and in awe.
ACS WA would like to extend special thanks to Prof Gretchen Benedix for showcasing the fascinating project of counting and classifying over 94 million craters on Mars, providing insights into meteorite sources. Also a big thank you to Associate Professor Andrew Woods for taking us on a virtual tour of shipwreck sites around the world through stunning 3D models.
The HIVE's wrap-around 3D Cylinder projection system made these presentations a truly immersive experience that left everyone in awe of what's possible when innovation meets technology.
