Tell us about your tech career journey highlights to date?

I come from a background of managing procurement and supply chain operations in mining industry. After a failed attempt by my company to implement a new supply chain solution in my department, I acknowledged my lack of IT knowledge and skills and pursued Master of IT degree. I now work as an ICT Business Analysis Consultant and my previous experience as a business user of a failed system implementation fuels my commitment as a business analyst to deliver systems that not only enhance processes but also deliver tangible business outcomes. I approach bridging the business and technology with passion, empathy, and patience to ensure no other users face similar frustrations.

I am currently still navigating my new career in tech industry. Working as a consultant, I get to work with clients from different industries which makes my day exciting and keeps me on the learning path.

Why did you get involved at ACS, The Emerging Professionals Committee and what are you hoping to achieve as a new member on the ACS Qld Branch Executive Committee?

I joined ACS as a SSM (Supported Student Member) in 2021 and joined EPC straight away to connect with fellow emerging tech professionals and build my community.

I am very excited about the opportunity to be a part of BEC. My main focus will be to strengthen the collaboration between BEC and EPC.

What professional advice would you provide your younger self?

You don't need to have everything fully planned or figured out. Trust the journey, and it will take you to exciting and rewarding places!

What is the ACS member benefit you enjoy the most and why?

Networking. It's inspiring and interesting to connect with others and get to know more about their career journeys. There are many career transitioners (like myself) which I didn't expect when I first started.

What is your favourite piece of tech or gadget?

My phone! Beyond the usual mobile phone functions, my screen is big enough to allow me to work on documents if needed. Plus, I have all my calendars integrated into it to help me stay organised and avoid double booking (well, it still happens sometimes).
