ACS is a proud partner in amplifying the Queensland Government's efforts to connect good people with good jobs! Through a variety of programs, we've been designated to represent the tech industry in promoting the work of DTET (formerly DESBT) support of employment, small business and training.
Specifically, ACS hosts an Industry Skills Advisor role for the business and ICT industries - informing the Department's priorities and decisions around training and skills, and also gives Queensland an important seat at the table in the national VET reform agenda. A great example of a recent Industry Skills Advisor outcome was the research, recommendation and ultimate launch of a funded Cert IV in Cybersecurity traineeship. We also host an Industry Workforce Advisor role for several industries - connecting hundreds of small businesses with the multitude of programs and incentives that the government offers to support workforce planning, human resource solutions and diverse recruitment.
We run the ICT Gateway to Industry Schools Program, which connects secondary school students with industry partners to create engagement experiences that illuminate pathways to rewarding tech careers. The project also connects educators with industry and one another, providing them with resources and opportunities to participate in professional development activities.
We have kicked off a new program to provide a Cybersecurity Microcredential for 250 teachers across Queensland, enabling them to meeting the increasing demands of the digital curriculum. This will be available within a self-paced immersive learning platform that will be supported by real-time tutorial sessions throughout 2025.
Finally, our Tech Ambassador aims to inspirate the next generation of tech professionals through personal stories. Supported by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, our 35 ambassadors directly influenced 16,000 students through presentations and representations at school career days, special events, and Career Expos. This activity also resulted in 60,000 social media impressions. Moving forward, we look forward to building on our success across metro areas and intro the regions through the support of the Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science.
Through all of these programs, the Queensland Government and ACS are fulfilling a shared mission - to attract and develop a world-class workforce that's in step what businesses and industry needs to fuel Australia's prosperity.
