Canberra Mentor Program:

A Celebration of Growth and New Beginnings

On February 18th, ACS Canberra brought together a community of learners and leaders at the Mentor Program Graduation & Launch Event, held at the vibrant Canberra Hub. This special evening was not just a milestone—it was a testament to the power of mentorship in shaping the future of the industry.
Honoring Achievements: A Celebration of Growth

ACS Canberra Branch Manager, Jenalle Bushby, set the tone for the night with a heartfelt welcome, underscoring ACS’s strong dedication to professional growth and community engagement. Her introduction to the Canberra Mentor Program reaffirmed why mentorship remains one of the most impactful ways to foster career development.

The first highlight of the evening was a tribute to the graduating mentees from the August 2024 – January 2025 cycle. Stepping onto the stage, these dedicated individuals received their Certificates of Completion from Rohit Borekar, Director of Solution Tech and a long-time mentor. As each name was called, applause echoed through the room, celebrating not just certificates but the remarkable progress of these aspiring professionals.

Equally moving was the recognition of the mentors—seasoned professionals who selflessly dedicated their time and expertise to guide the next generation. Sam Banagala, Director at the Australian Taxation Office and a respected female leader, presented Certificates of Appreciation to these mentors, acknowledging their invaluable contributions. Their guidance extended far beyond career advice—it was about opening doors, building confidence, and igniting ambition.

The event’s energy continued as both Rohit and Sam took the stage to share their personal mentoring experiences, highlighting the meaningful, two-way benefits of mentorship. Mentees also stepped forward to express their gratitude, reflecting on the doors that had been opened and the confidence they had gained through this journey.

Sharing Wisdom: The Power of Experience

Closing the formal proceedings, Jenalle offered her own insights, sharing practical advice on how mentees can make the most of their mentorship experience. Her words offered motivation, urging mentees to be proactive, inquisitive, and fearless in their pursuit of growth.

ACS Canberra remains dedicated to fostering professional development through its Mentor Program, held twice a year. More than just a graduation, this event was a launchpad for future success—proving that great careers are built through mentorship and collaboration.
