Read a wrap up on the support of team ACS for student o-week events around the state
Highlights
- The team have been out and about for student o-week events, visiting Griffith University and QUT.

Griffith University Orientation Week – ACS Qld Branch, Communities Team and Emerging Professionals Committee Support
Together with the Communities Partner Success Manager Alannah Grech, Holly Bretherton, State Manager and Angela Chen, Membership, Accounts and Events Support, ACS Qld attended the Griffith O-Week orientation for ICT Students, at Southport and Nathan campuses and also online. The team spoke to the benefits of free student membership, and the strong partnership in place with Griffith University.
We had wonderful support from the Faculty (including Head of School, Prof Alan Lieu recommending ACS membership to the students), and the team are currently processing a large number of new free student member sign ups following the successful engagements.
We were also lucky to have two of our new Emerging Professional Committee Members Dularika Wickramasinghe and Zia Tharis on hand to meet the students and share their emerging professional journeys, and how ACS membership has helped support their tech career journeys.
QUT Welcome Week – Promoting out SSM and Supporting University Clubs
As welcome week/orientation weeks kick off around the country, it has seen the community’s team out and about activating onsite and online at a range of universities around the country.
Last week Alannah Grech, Partner Success Manager - Communities and 4 student volunteers were onsite at the Queensland University of Technology Gardens Point campus hosting a marquee stall across 2 days of the week long event to engage with new students to onboard them as part of SSM, engage with current ACS student members, and meet with new and current university clubs.
With QUT having the highest uptake of SSM in QLD, it was a great opportunity to continue the relationship with the student members and promote out benefits such as the Pearson member discount on books relevant to uni courses and Global Futures Education climate courses.
