Held at QUT and generously supported by QUT BANDS as venue sponsor, the session welcomed students, early-career professionals, career changers and a diverse group of industry representatives who kindly offered their time to share insights and advice. The night kicked off with rapid-fire introductions from 15 industry representatives, each sharing a glimpse into their unique journey in just one to two minutes.

Industry representatives held roles in Solutions Architecture, Software Engineering, DevOps, Blockchain, Quality Assurance and Testing, AI, Product Management, IT Support, Data Science, Business Analysis, Account Management and Start Ups, which provided insights for attendees in how careers in tech are as diverse as they are rewarding.

Following the introductions, the room transformed into a buzzing mini-careers fair. Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers, armed with conversation starters, speaker bios, and a light-hearted networking challenge that encouraged meaningful connections. Feedback from attendees is that the different styled event approach provided more opportunities to understand who the industry representatives were, and then more time to network and be better prepared to ask the professionals targeted questions.

Congratulations to the ACS QLD EPC for a successful first event for the year, supported by Alannah Grech, Partner Success Manager – Communities, and Angela Chen and Caitlin Hultgren from the ACS QLD Branch. Watch this space for the next ACS QLD EPC event in July that will be focusing in on AI.
