1.    Tell us about your tech career history and highlights to date

I lead interdisciplinary teams developing AI-driven solutions for infectious disease control, with research influencing national health policy. I've published in Nature Communications and The Lancet, secured over $10M AUD in grants, and presented at global forums like OneHealth. My work integrates technology and public health including implementing a dengue Early Warning System in Vietnam.

2.    What career advice would you give your younger self?

Be fearless in pursuing interdisciplinary paths. Embrace technology not just as a tool, but as a language to connect diverse domains. Seek mentors early and don’t underestimate the power of collaboration across sectors. Stay curious, publish often, and always keep the human impact of your work front and centre—tech should serve people first.

3.    What is your favourite piece of tech or gadget?

My favourite tech is the Raspberry Pi—compact yet powerful. I’ve used it in education, research demos, and community projects. Whether powering AI waste classifiers for students or enabling real-time IoT data in smart classrooms, it represents accessible, hands-on innovation that empowers learning and experimentation across ages and disciplines.
