Code Network Winter Hackathon shows off Brisbane’s emerging coding talent
Code Network Winter Hackathon, hosted by QUT, was held from the 8th to 10th of August and was a huge success – hear from ACS Emerging Professional Committee Vice Chair Pavel Zemnukhov about his experience on the judging panel.

The Code Network Winter Hackathon was held recently, from the 8th to 10th of August. Open to everyone, the hackathon was hosted at QUT and featured teams of students and professionals working together to test and build innovative projects quickly.
ACS was proud to have our own Emerging Professional Committee Vice Chair Pavel Zemnukhov on the judging panel, and he was incredibly impressed by what he saw.
“In just 48 hours, teams turned ideas into working prototypes. The creativity, grit, and collaboration on display were outstanding. From clever UX twists to ambitious AI and platform builds, it was inspiring to see what people can achieve under tight time pressure.
The energy in the room was electric: eyes lit up, teams huddled over laptops, rapid-fire pitches, and constant iteration. Moments like these remind me why I love such communities - they push you to think outside the box and explore bold solutions.”
Congratulations to the winners; and well done to all participants!
These kinds of events offer a great opportunity for students and graduates to prove their project management skills, create something they can show off and make connections with fellow emerging professionals – all huge boons when entering the job market.
