Volunteering Webinar Provides Great Value For Members

Building Confidence, Finding Purpose & Expanding Your Network

On Monday the 30th of June, the ACS SSM team held the latest in our Career Toolkit Webinar Series, titled "Creating experience through volunteering and community". In this highly engaging session, over 140 attendees joined Alannah Grech, Partner Success Manager - Communities and our two guests, Cloudwerx People & Culture Advisor Jena Lee Grey and Study Melbourne Student Ambassador Purvang Dave to discuss how to get into volunteering and what the benefits are of doing so, personally and professionally.

We heard from both speakers how they had developed a highly desirable set of transferable skills, including teamwork, problem-solving and interpersonal communication - and how our attendees could promote their volunteering experiences through LinkedIn, on their resumes and in interviews.

Our audience was also told about the immense personal fulfillment and connection with community that can come from volunteering, and how that can help you better understand yourself, your goals in life and how you can positively impact the world around you.

After a highly engaged Q&A session with our speakers where advice was given on volunteering remotely, how to build your network through volunteering without feeling exploitative and where to start (small, with something you're passionate about, and immediately!), we ended the event by providing attendees with a resources document detailing platforms to find volunteering opportunities, options for places to volunteer across every state, and community tech groups they could get involved with.

Thanks to Jasmine Best, Student Engagement Coordinator, for hosting the backend of the webinar with flawless execution.
