NSW September 2025 Recap: AI Adventures, Coding Week & IT Heroes

September was full of tech, talks, and a few clever “code” puns! From hands-on AI masterclasses to sessions where members blended traditional coding with AI workflows, the month was all about learning, experimenting, and having fun. We also celebrated IT Professionals Day, shining a spotlight on the behind-the-scenes heroes who keep systems secure, networks running, and innovation flowing.

Across talks, workshops, and hands-on learning, the theme was clear: curiosity and creativity drive tech forward. Whether experimenting with AI or coding challenges, our members proved that when it comes to technology, every idea and every byte matters!

Highlights

  • September NSW Branch Forum explored how AI is reshaping data analytics, with Dr Daniel King highlighting that effective results come from asking the right questions and mastering prompt engineering. Attendees left inspired to specialise further in AI, recognising that guiding AI thoughtfully, rather than just using the tools, is key to unlocking real value.
  • The "AI for Data Analysis" masterclass was a hands-on experience where participants tested tools like Quadratic, Julius, and Zebra AI with different prompting styles, uncovering both brilliant and surprising results while exploring how AI is reshaping data analysis and workflow design.
  • In collaboration with UTS, we hosted the Future Generation Enterprise Architecture Symposium- a platform for EA practitioners, researchers and thought leaders to exchange innovative ideas and best practices for architecting intelligent data.
  • To celebrate Coding Week, our members sent through their best coding puns. Here's a few of our favourites:
"There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who don’t."
"Trying to understand the code I wrote on Friday."
"I have a love-hate relationship with semicolons; we just can’t end things properly."
"Without data, you’re just another person with an opinion."
    "But did you document it?"
