In Memory of Bruce Wilson MACS (Senior) CP OAM

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Wilson MACS (Senior) CP OAM, a highly respected IT professional, dedicated community advocate, and cherished friend to many. Bruce’s life was defined by an unwavering dedication to excellence and a commitment to making a positive impact across all areas of his life.

A member of the ACS since 1972, Bruce’s professional achievements were remarkable. From his role in IT quality assurance to his integral contributions to major projects, Bruce earned the admiration of colleagues for his meticulous attention to detail, thoughtful guidance, and passion for continuous improvement. His dedication to his craft extended into his work with the WAITTA program, where he played a key role in transitioning it to the independent INCITE Awards. As a long-standing iAwards judge, Bruce left a lasting legacy in the industry through his insights and mentorship.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Bruce’s contributions to the wider community were extraordinary. Awarded the prestigious Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 2012 for his services to athletics, Bruce also poured his energy into fostering the arts as a Life Member of the Perth Festival alongside his wife, Marie. Known for his tireless efforts to enhance his Fremantle community, Bruce could often be seen picking up litter, reporting broken streetlights, or delivering the Fremantle Herald—small acts that reflected his deep care for those around him.

Colleagues and friends, including Dr. Bob Cross, Gregg Boalch, Phil May, and Jan Kornweibel, remember Bruce as a trusted advisor, a role model, and a kind-hearted individual who always sought to bring out the best in people. His ability to balance professionalism with empathy and collaboration left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Bruce Wilson lived a life of purpose, compassion, and enduring impact. His contributions to IT, athletics, and his community will be remembered with gratitude and respect. He will be deeply missed.
