In Memory of Laurynhill

The ACS community is deeply saddened by the passing of Laurynhill Wambui, a valued member of our profession and a cherished contributor to the ACS WA Emerging Professionals Committee.

While her time with us was far too short, Laurynhill's impact on our community will endure through the relationships she built, the initiatives she supported, and the countless individuals she encouraged along the way.

As a member of the ACS WA Emerging Professionals Committee, Laurynhill brought energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine commitment to supporting the next generation of technology professionals. She generously shared her time, ideas, and passion, helping to create opportunities for students and emerging professionals to connect, learn, and grow. Whether contributing behind the scenes, participating in events, or simply offering encouragement to others, Laurynhill embodied the spirit of service and community that sits at the heart of ACS.

Her contribution was never measured solely by the work she completed, but by the way she made people feel. Laurynhill had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome, valued, and capable. She approached every interaction with kindness and authenticity, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues, fellow committee members, and everyone fortunate enough to know her.

"To me, Laurynhill was an incredibly intelligent, passionate and responsible lady. Whenever she committed to something, she would always give it her very best and make sure it was done properly, whether that meant staying up until 2 am preparing for a Hackathon or putting her heart into organising an ACS event and making sure every detail was just right.

I will always treasure the beautiful memories I shared with Lauryn: from winning an award together at the WA Police Hackathon, to organising ACS events side by side, and even the simple moments like going out for ice cream or playing pool together.

Someone as kind and wonderful as Lauryn will surely continue her journey in a place filled with peace and meaning. I will always remember her and carry the memories we shared in my heart." -  Jenny Tran, Vice Chair, ACS WA Emerging Professionals Committee

Today, we remember Laurynhill with gratitude and admiration. We thank her for the time, passion, and care she gave to ACS and the WA Emerging Professionals Committee. Her contributions helped strengthen our community, and her legacy will continue through the people she inspired and the connections she helped foster

"Lauryn was an intelligent, thoughtful and funny. She wasn’t afraid to speak up for what she believed in and was passionate about supporting her community through the many ways she volunteered her time. "Working with Lauryn-Hill through ACS WA was a privilege. She brought intelligence, enthusiasm and professionalism to every interaction and quickly became a valued contributor to the WA Branch Emerging Professionals Committee. What stood out most was her willingness to get involved, share ideas and support initiatives that would benefit students and emerging professionals. Lauryn represented the future of our profession: capable, thoughtful and community-minded. She made a positive impression on everyone who had the opportunity to work with her, and her contributions to ACS WA will be remembered with gratitude and fond memories. May eternal rest be granted unto her, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace." - Darren Roxburgh MACS, WA State Manager, ACS
