EdCAT 2026 Techtopia wrap

538 attendees, 40 speakers, 4 streams, a huge social media reach, and a day that was absolutely fantastic. Nine months of work from a core team came together at Wrest Point for what was our best EdCAT yet.

Keynotes from Tracey Spicer AM GAICD and Katherine Bennell-Pegg set the tone. Katherine's keynote centred on the iconic Earthrise photo, taken by astronaut Bill Anders on Christmas Eve 1968 as Apollo 8 became the first crewed spacecraft to orbit the Moon. Through that image she drew a powerful connection between being custodians of our planet and being custodians of our communities. It was one of many standout moments of the day. Tracey brought her trademark insight to AI and the future of possibility, leaving the room genuinely energised. She also facilitated several session on the day, and was friendly, engaging, and a true delight to work with.

Across all four streams there were happy faces, deep conversations, and a buzz that you could feel throughout the entire venue. People reconnected with faces from last year, discovered new ideas, and left carrying fresh connections with them. That is what EdCAT does, and it is what makes it more than a single day event, its super power is that it creates a community.

After last year we wondered how we would top it. We did. And that creates a challenge we are very much looking forward to.

EdCAT feeds into everything ACS stands for.
