My Journey: From ACS Member to ACS Team Member
My journey with ACS has been one of growth, connection, and purpose. Today, I work as a Learning & Development Specialist at ACS, where I contribute to initiatives that support lifelong learning and professional excellence across Australia’s technology sector.
My role extends beyond delivering courses. I have the opportunity to design and deliver engaging learning experiences, develop curriculum and training resources, and contribute to professional education programs that support emerging technology professionals and ACS members, particularly across areas involving emerging technologies.
I also support learners throughout their professional development journeys by providing guidance on career planning, certification pathways, SFIA skills, communication, internships, and Work Integrated Learning (WIL). Through mentoring and facilitating webinars, I help learners build confidence, strengthen workplace readiness, and take meaningful steps towards their career goals.
Being part of an organisation that champions lifelong learning, innovation, ethical practice, and professional excellence is both a privilege and an inspiration. I am proud to contribute to developing the next generation of technology professionals and helping strengthen Australia’s digital future.
Empowering the Next Generation of Technology Professionals
My favourite part of working at ACS is the opportunity to collaborate with passionate colleagues while contributing to initiatives that shape the future of Australia’s technology workforce.
Whether developing new learning programs, reviewing curriculum, hosting webinars, mentoring students, or representing ACS at professional events, every experience provides an opportunity to learn, connect, and create meaningful impact.
I particularly enjoy attending ACS networking events and industry workshops, where I can engage with professionals and gain insights into emerging technologies, particularly in areas such as Artificial Intelligence and cybersecurity. These opportunities reinforce the importance of continuous learning and staying connected with the broader technology community.
The People and Moments That Make ACS Special
Some of my most memorable moments at ACS have come from seeing the learners I have supported achieve their goals and begin the next chapter of their professional careers.
Watching students grow in confidence, strengthen their communication and teamwork skills, and develop the capabilities needed to succeed in the workplace has been incredibly rewarding. Supporting them through their Professional Year and Work Integrated Learning journeys and seeing the lasting impact these programs have on their careers is what makes this work so meaningful.
Another highlight has been representing ACS as a guest speaker at professional events, sharing my experiences in mentoring and learning development, and connecting with the wider ACS community. Being able to contribute to conversations around professional growth and the future of technology professionals has been a truly fulfilling experience.
A Full Circle Journey: Celebrating 60 Years of ACS
ACS’s 60th anniversary is a special opportunity for me to reflect on the organisation’s impact, both across Australia’s technology profession and in my own life.
My migration journey from India to Australia was supported through the skills assessment process conducted by ACS, and I have remained an ACS member since arriving in Australia. To now be working at ACS feels like a full circle moment, as this organisation has played a significant role in my own professional journey.
However, ACS’s impact extends far beyond individual experiences. Over the past 60 years, ACS has made a remarkable contribution to advancing Australia’s technology profession, supporting professionals at every stage of their careers and helping shape the future of the industry.
I feel incredibly proud to be part of an organisation that continues to empower technology professionals and strengthen Australia’s digital future.
The Future of Technology Starts with Continuous Learning
As technology continues to evolve, particularly across areas such as Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies, the ability to continuously learn and adapt has never been more important.
While technical skills are essential, I believe successful technology professionals are also defined by their ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and embrace lifelong learning. Building meaningful professional connections and staying open to growth will help individuals navigate change and create a lasting impact throughout their careers.
Making the Most of Your ACS Membership
Use ACS as a platform for continuous growth.
The most successful technology professionals are those who continue learning, build strong networks, stay connected with industry trends, and actively contribute to their professional community. ACS provides opportunities to do this through events, certifications, mentoring, professional recognition, and industry engagement.
My advice for aspiring technology professionals is simple:
"Keep learning, embrace change, and never underestimate the value of building meaningful professional connections. Technology evolves rapidly, but a commitment to continuous learning, professionalism, and collaboration will always set you apart."
