ACS Victoria supporting a Stem Careers Fair

14 September 2022

Highlights

  • ACS Victoria’s Diversity and Inclusion (D and I) Committee supported the iStem Careers Fair last week at Victoria University.
  • ACS Victoria BEC member and D and I Committee Chair, Charlynn Miller, and Victorian State Manager, Michelle Bourke, attended the fair to talk to the participants about tech careers and ACS.

The careers fair provided organisations an opportunity to recruit, network and advertise their products and services to talented women in STEM fields. iSTEM Co. is a research, consulting and talent sourcing company whose core objective is to enable the employment of women into STEM organisations particularly women of colour/women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds in STEM.

There are currently over 10,000 vacant STEM roles to be filled, yet women within the STEM sector are at 29% of the entire workforce with women of colour facing over four times higher unemployment rates.  We are so pleased that Dr Ruwangi Fernando from iStem has recently joined the Victorian D and I committee as an advisor in this space.
