Canberra EPC: Building Momentum from 2025 into 2026
The Canberra Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC) supports and represents ACS members at the beginning of their ICT careers - from students and graduates to professionals in the early stages of their journey.
Established less than a year ago, the ACS Canberra EPC has already built strong momentum. In 2025, the committee focused on creating meaningful opportunities for connection, bringing emerging professionals together with experienced ICT leaders and strengthening the sense of community within Canberra’s technology sector.
A Strong First Year Built on Connection
Throughout 2025, the EPC delivered its first two events, creating welcoming spaces where emerging professionals could engage in open conversation, share experiences, and build confidence. These events reinforced an important message: while technical skills are essential, careers are often shaped by relationships, mentorship, and community support.
By fostering these early connections, the EPC has helped emerging professionals feel supported, included, and encouraged to actively participate in the broader ACS community.
CBR EPC Chair - Harriet Huynh shared:
“Serving as the Committee Chair for ACS Canberra EPC has been both a privilege and a learning journey. Working alongside passionate and talented committee members reminded me of why I got involved in ACS in the first place.
Our two debut events in 2025 really highlight the importance of strong community support. Technical skills alone are not enough — mentor guidance and professional connections can make all the difference in a career.
I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together and grateful for the support of the ACS community, our partners, and every volunteer who has generously given their time and energy.”
Welcoming the 2026 EPC Committee
As the EPC moves into 2026, the committee is pleased to welcome new members who bring fresh perspectives, diverse experiences, and a shared commitment to supporting emerging ICT professionals across Canberra.
Together, the 2026 committee reflects the diversity of pathways into the ICT profession and will play an important role in shaping future events, initiatives, and engagement opportunities for ACS members.
Looking Ahead: Our Mission for 2026
Building on the foundation established in 2025, the Canberra EPC’s focus for 2026 is to:
strengthen connections between emerging professionals and established ICT leaders,
create accessible and inclusive opportunities for professional growth,
encourage confidence, contribution, and long-term engagement with ACS, and
continue supporting a collaborative, future-ready ICT community in Canberra.
Through people-focused initiatives and strong community partnerships, the EPC aims to ensure emerging professionals feel not only supported, but empowered to thrive within the ICT sector.
Well done to the Canberra EPC on a successful 2025, and good luck for 2026! If you’d like to keep up to date on what the EPC are up to, follow the ACS Canberra page here.
