Hear how ACS is helping reduce the skills shortage gap with successful launch of the newest tech career fair
Hear from Beau Tydd, Immediate Past Chair, ACS QLD BEC as he shares his thoughts on last weeks newest career fair Supanova’s Level Up Career Extravaganza, Powered by ACS event that saw over 30,000 school students, graduates and members of the public attend over the 3 days, and see how you can get involved in 2025.
Attending Supanova was an incredible experience. As the immediate past chair of ACS BEC Queensland, I was thrilled to attend with my 10-year-old son and witness the event’s electrifying atmosphere firsthand. It was a pleasure to engage with so many enthusiastic attendees eager to learn about the tech industry. Special thanks go to Alannah Grech for her vision in making this opportunity possible, with exceptional support from Erin Cowling and many others.
Friday, celebrated as Level Up Career Extravaganza, Powered by ACS, saw over 3,000 school and tertiary students in attendance, contributing to a remarkable turnout of more than 30,000 over the three days. This year marked ACS’s largest-ever participation at Supanova, showcasing our commitment to connecting with diverse communities and inspiring future tech professionals from all backgrounds.
ACS’s involvement succeeded in inspiring and educating students, teachers, and parents, sparking curiosity about the wide-ranging opportunities in tech. Students left motivated to explore various career paths, and ACS was able to illuminate pathways into tech that aligned with their unique interests.
In the Level Up Zone, TAFE and university students connected directly with industry leaders and participated in hands-on workshops, gaining essential skills and insights that will prepare them for their future careers. These interactions were instrumental in building professional growth and enthusiasm for tech. Thank you to QUT, TAFE QLD, Imagine Realities, Holovision, Girls Day Out, ACER, Kirra Services, Lumify and Screen Queensland for being part of the Level Up Zone.
ACS also resonated strongly with Supanova’s core audience—predominantly aged 15 to 35—encouraging them to consider tech careers that align with their passions. This engagement fostered a welcoming entry point into the tech community and further helped bridge the tech skills gap. Supanova demonstrated ACS’s dedication to supporting tech professionals at every stage, making this event a significant contribution to the industry.
I’m proud to see ACS championing the tech community through such an impactful event and supporting the growth of a thriving tech community.
