Empowering young professionals: Leveraging ACS resources in Cybersecurity & AI

27 Oct 2025

Highlights

Who says ACS membership is only for tech professionals?

  • Every sector and business needs digital skills, including finance, HR, and marketing.
  • If you use digital skills in your work, study, or volunteering, you can benefit from becoming an ACS member and finding your sense of belonging.
  • Cyber security is everyone’s business. We all have a duty of care to use AI tools responsibly and securely.

On Thursday, 23 October 2025, the Australian Computer Society (ACS), Canberra Branch collaborated with Tailored Accounts for their Accountantchange program - a quarterly training initiative designed for business, finance, and accounting students and young professionals who are eager to gain the latest industry knowledge while developing practical workplace skills.

As part of Cybersecurity Awareness month, ACS Canberra Branch Manager, Jenalle Bushby, delivered an engaging session on “Cybersecurity & AI: A pathway for young professionals - leveraging ACS resources for your career journey.”

During her presentation, Jenalle shared valuable insights, including:

  • Why cybersecurity and AI matter in today’s digital economy
  • A recent case study on cyber threats facing early-career professionals
  • ACS resources and tools to accelerate cyber skill development
  • How to build a cybersecurity and AI career
  • Next steps to empower your professional capability through ACS membership, and opportunities to learn and earn digital badges and certifications

The session inspired participants to explore how technology, security, and professional growth intersect and encouraging them to take active steps in shaping a secure, future-ready career as part of duty of care when dealing with sensitive information and finance data etc.

It was inspiring to see many attendees’ express interest in joining ACS to continue their learning and professional development journey.
