Wrap up of a successful 2024 for the WA EPC
Hear from WA EPC Chair Olivia van der Kroon as she reflects on the successful achievements of the WA Emerging Professionals Committee for 2024.
As 2024 draws to a close, it's time to reflect on the incredible journey we've had at the WA Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC). This year, we’ve made significant strides in empowering our emerging professional members and building connections within our industry.
With the support of our new series sponsor, NIT—a national first—we were able to deliver high-quality events, including Insights from Early Career Professionals, Speed Interviewing with Industry Leaders, the Curtain Hive Site Tour, as well as discussions on Navigating Career Burnout, Motivation, and Growth. These events provided valuable insights, networking opportunities, and strategies for personal and professional development.
One of the highlights was our participation in the National Sydney Event, where Nyasha and I had the opportunity to connect with peers from across the country, share ideas, and showcase our WA initiatives. Additionally, we’ve been focused on building a strong EPC presence in Western Australia, thanks to the committees efforts.
I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks to those outgoing committee members who volunteered their time, dedication, initiative, enthusiasm, and overall excitement for helping to lay the foundations of the WA EPC. It was our first year, and I experienced a lot of learnings, personal growth, and embarked on a leadership journey. I couldn’t have done it without each of their support, especially those who volunteered with the event planning, setups - basically building each event from scratch.
Special thanks to the branch staff, Vicki and Darren, whose support was crucial for the seamless execution of our events. Additionally, my gratitude goes to the WA Branch Executive Committee members, past and present, for their unwavering support and trust in my leadership. Their confidence in my abilities has allowed me to lead the committee effectively and push the boundaries to support a thriving and talented community we are continuing to build on.
Looking forward to 2025, there are exciting conversations and ideas bubbling, as well as some national happenings on the horizon. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all our members, past and present, for their continued support and active participation. Your enthusiasm, continued support, and dedication make ACS and the growing EPC cohort a thriving community.
