ACS hosts launch of SFIA Version 9 and new mySFIA platform in Canberra
13 Nov 2024
- The first event was the Australia-New Zealand launch of version 9 of the global SFIA framework (Skills for an Information Age).
- The second event was the launch of the new ACS mySFIA assessment tool which has been re-platformed together with the team from C4 Digital and refreshed to incorporate the SFIA version 9 framework alongside the new ACS Occupations Framework.
At this launch, the ACS Chief Operating Officer, Siobhan O'Sullivan and the Director of Capability, Rupert Grayston hosted the mySFIA launch event and spoke about why the work that ACS performs in this space is so critical to our mission and purpose. Australian tech workers and employers need to identify skill gaps and strengths to identify development pathways and pursue career opportunities. The new platform delivers an improved user experience for teams and individuals to assess, grow and have their skills and capabilities recognised; with an improved ‘look and feel’, automation, and system integration.
Lisa Syrek then took the event attendees ‘on a quick spin’ through the new my SFIA platform which covered the following aspects:
- Completing a professional attributes assessment to determine your current level of responsibility and a SFIA skills self-assessment against a job role, a job family or the whole SFIA framework
- Identifying learning modules in Skillsoft to help close any identified skill gaps – either versus your primary/existing job role
- Reviewing individual and manager-level reports (using real-time dashboards) to view your team’s self-assessments against their primary job roles and potential future roles
- Exploring the differences between the SFIA 8 and version 9 (both updated and new skills)
Henry Louey then sat down with an ACS partner for a ‘fireside chat’ to explore their experiences of using the SFIA framework to support workforce development in their organisation and to share their first impressions of the new platform and its potential.
Finally, Henry and Lisa led a Q&A session with the attendees (both face-to-face and online) cover off any outstanding questions.
Feedback from an attendee is also an SME in the field was hugely encouraging; “I tuned in for the mySFIA platform launch today and just wanted to drop a note to say excellent work. It looks so good. The UX both at an individual level and at the organisational view is so good. I’ve actually been going through the same process and our UX is nowhere near as good as yours. I hope you’re really proud of what you built because you certainly should be! You guys are genuinely moving the bar in lifting our sovereign tech capabilities. Keep up the amazing work.”
