Appointment of Jenalle Bushby as Canberra Branch Manager

20 September 2024 | By Roger Clarke, Canberra Branch Chair, ACS

Highlights

  • ACS Canberra is made up of approximately 3,000 members, from aspiring to retiring.
  • Aligned to the ACS strategy pillars: “People”, “Technology”, and “Impact”, we have programs to support you at any stage of your career and whatever your area of expertise or industry sector.
  • The Canberra Branch holds regular professional development, networking events and a Mentoring Program to support the career goals and connect all ACS Canberra members.

I've been Canberra Branch Chair for a year now. That job, and the national roles that go with it, have been so busy that this my first communication to the Branch's members. But it's a good occasion to break my duck!

Dr Vicki Gardiner recently moved on after a successful 4 years as Branch Manager. She's now in a more senior role in the Canberra Cyber Hub. During the process to appoint Vicki's successor, it became very clear that Jenalle's energy, cheerful enthusiasm and ability to deliver results now extend to the ability to manage the Branch's operations as a whole.

Jenalle is very well-known to members, and she'll ensure continuation of quality services to you, and the steady streams of relevant events. Kathryn Stanfield is now well settled in. I encourage you to bring to their attention any problems, but also your thoughts on suitable additional activities, speakers and initiatives.

The Branch is in a strong position, with experienced Committee members supporting the staff. We also thank those members who contribute to Jenalle's very successful mentoring program.

Talking about the Mentoring Proram, are you now sufficiently established as a professional, manager or executive that you can assist younger members? The role of mentor involves communicating your experience and insights in a way that will map to younger professionals' somewhat different world. If you're up for this challenge, check out the guidance materials for the program, and register your availability for the next cohort. You can request a copy of Mentoring Program via email acs.canb@acs.org.au,
