NSW March 2026 Recap: Turning insight into action across the community
March was a month defined by connection and momentum for our ACS NSW community, with a dynamic calendar of events that brought members together to share ideas, challenge thinking, and build meaningful relationships. While Clean Tech Month provided a light thematic backdrop, the real highlight was the level of engagement across the board. From the launch of new meet-ups like Beyond the Paper to interactive sessions, expert-led discussions, and community-driven conversations.
It was a month that showcased the strength of the ACS network, where knowledge was not just presented, but actively exchanged, and where new spaces were created for members to connect, contribute, and grow together.
Event Highlights
- In alignment with the 'Clean Tech and Sustainability' content theme, ACS NSW hosted a hybrid event featuring Sandeep Mathur, PhD Mathur, Head of Data & Digital Platforms at Greenpeace Australia Pacific. He took a deep dive into the intersection of sustainability, responsibility, and productivity; whilst also sharing the tools of success for any "green technologist".
- International Women's Day was celebrated in partnership with Women in Digital - a room full of highly engaged individuals with a genuine sense of connection, empowerment, and shared commitment to progress.
- The inaugural Beyond the Paper meet-up brought academics and industry together for an engaging, dialogue-driven discussion on zero-knowledge proof-enabled blockchain credential verification, demonstrating the power of collective thinking when research meets real-world application.
- Lunch & Learn session led by NSW Member, Ed Lefley, showed how precise soil sensing and time-series data transform environmental measurements into real-time, predictive decisions - enabling smarter, more sustainable outcomes from the ground up.
- At the ACS NSW EPC event, attendees learned that first impressions are made in seconds, with live profile “roasts,” expert feedback, and professional headshots reinforcing how strategic formatting and presentation can turn overlooked resumes into shortlisted opportunities.
Clean Tech Insights from NSW Members
With the spotlight on Clean Tech, three of our ACS NSW members shared how technology can drive more sustainable outcomes in an era where digital systems, data, and AI are rapidly scaling. Farookh Khadeer Hussain highlighted the importance of bridging research and real-world application, including his work on platforms that verify the authenticity of carbon credits, while Stefan Trueck explored the complexities of renewable energy markets, particularly the impact of wind droughts on energy reliability. Tim Prosser offered practical, high-impact actions for reducing the environmental footprint of technology, reinforcing that sustainable progress depends not only on innovation but on the everyday decisions made by tech professionals and organisations.
